BE A FINISHER II: Obstacles and Helpful Perspectives
WELCOME BACK! Glad to have you here again. Hope the day has been fine?
Today, we will continue our discuss on "Be A Finisher" as we talk about Obstacles and Helpful Perspectives.
The way we see life is not always the way life is, especially when we are down, discouraged, in pain, afraid and so on. Negative emotions color our perspectives; that is why I don't advise anyone to make major decisions when in a bad emotional state. If one does, most likely, one will regret such decisions-- that is, if one survives it.
I was in a meeting two days ago and someone there made a statement that I have always believed. She said there was a time when she just wanted to die but looking back now, she feels like the idea is foolish. If she had committed suicide and people hear her reason (like we hear that of some today), those of us alive are the ones who will see the foolishness of such decisions. Thank God she didn't go that far.
OBSTACLES: What Stops People from Moving On?
If you are making progress in life or if you are not, if you are moving as fast as or slower than you should, you WILL face rough or tough situations. Nobody is immune to challenges.
Which of these will you consider an obstacle to fulfilling a worthy goal? That is, why do people give up accomplishing a good objective?
Repeated Failures?
On the making of the light bulb,Thomas Edison said, " I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
Repeated failures are your opportunity to discover what won't work. You can become a consultant if you don't give up. You can write a book telling your story, sharing your mistakes and guiding millions on how not to make similar mistakes (and those books sell!). Even failures are opportunities if you succeed before you quit.
Unrealized Expectations?
Again I will quote Thomas Edison, " Many of life's failures are people who do not realize how close they are to success when they gave up."
You will not be able to defend statements like, "I tried my best"," nothing works," "I can't take it anymore..." There will be witnesses against you-- people who tried more than you tried, people who went back to gain more knowledge when they've exhausted all they knew, people who have experienced worse things than you do and just refused to give up.
Unrealized expectation at this time can be fulfilled expectations tomorrow if you refuse to give up being your best.
Overwhelming Challenges?
Proverbs 24:10 (Bible) says, "If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small." (New Living Translation)Your content determines what is 'overwhelming.' Remember the Boy Scout Motto: Be Prepared.
If you always dodge pain and run away from situations where you have to take responsibility; if you avoid circumstances that call for patience, you WILL NEVER be strong to handle necessary challenges and it will be your fault. Necessary challenges are those that are preparatory grounds for future oppotunities-- and they don't announce themselves as such.
Be willing to grow under the current challenge you face. Develop patience, it brings maturity. Don't escape. Stay there and win!
We will stop here today. Next week Tuesday, God willing, we will discuss (or I should say, "continue to discuss") "Becoming A Finisher."
Till then, stay focused. Your dream is a possibility when you have a worthy motive.Don't give up.

- When they experience repeated failures?
- When their expectations fails to materialize?
- When they face challenges too tough for them to deal with?
