Becoming A Finisher
Welcome back! How has been the day?
Like it was mentioned last Tuesday, we will discuss how to BE a finisher today.
VALUE CHANGE
The first thing to acquire is a new set of values. Your values are what matters to you; it determines how you respond to situation.
The most important and the foundation of all good values is LOVE. It is the CHOICE to be benevolent and kind. It is the choice to be good to people not minding who they are, where they are from or what they have done (or not done). Everybody NEEDS to be loved.
Any value not rooted in love is abnormal even if it is the order of the day. Love thinks the best of others and does no harm to a neighbor. Love will not harden its heart, it cares about the suffering of others. Love is considerate and seeks to owe no one anything but its continuous expression.
When love and faith work together, we will not fear being taken advantage of.
VISION
I have realized that when you don't keep your vision alive, you will start believing the wrong things-- even about yourself. I hear people say, "I can't" when they mean "I don't want to." After a while, they believe it and it influences their decision making. ( Who will attempt what he KNOWS he can't.)
If your purpose is worth it, if your vision is not based on wrong values, then it is worth keeping alive (Please read previous posts for more on this.)
To be a finisher, you must be convinced about what you hope for. Don't just hope that things will change one day. Without being convinced of the preferred future, most likely, you will not stand the trials of the present.
Fight to keep your vision alive. Say what you want to see not what you can see. Hang around people of similar vision and values, surround yourself with a positive atmosphere. Deliberately read or listen to information that will fuel your vision and deliberately flee those that will discourage you.
Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't-- you're right."
I believe. My last word on this topic, therefore is: (quoting Jesus, the Messiah,) "If YOU can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." (Mark 9:23 World English Bible, the emphasis is mine)
